Saratoga - day #17 (8/10) selections

(42-152) $272.50

Race #1

Hawkwood – much the best in optional claimer going wire to wire last out, back in allowance conditions today.
Coastal Drive – makes belated 3yr.old debut today, ran in statebred stakes last Fall.
Dr.W – consistent sort seems to fire everytime, but rarely wins…0 for 6 in this condition this year.

Race #2

Precursor – second best in debut with wide trip, bred to stretch out.
Trevelyan – Pletcher firster with distance breeding too.
Prince of Wealth – Mott runner also has great breeding, tough trio here to beat.

Race #3

Blowout / Pauillac (entry) – Pletcher sends out theses two that fit well here; first listed ships in from Churchill with optional claimer win, the latter goes from turf to dirt & drops…winner here last summer.
Defrereoftheheart – claimed last start for sharp trainer, statebred has showed promise in the past.
Gold Is Mine – first starter this meet for dangerous Delaware trainer; Scott Lake, speed factor.

Race #4

You Go West Girl – the new “stranger” of this bunch, never faced her own statebreds before, sports fine record
Rewrite – consistent as they come, the one to beat.
Latitude Forty – upset winner of this race last year at 23-1, just missed behind second choice last time out.

Race #5

Can She Dance – narrowly missed last time out, gets blinkers on today.
Offhand Remark – very sharp wire to wire victory in maiden breaker, tough off that effort.
Fast n’ Sassy – impressive maiden breaker also, stablemate MTO if we get more rain.
Superfecta include: Debbie’s Fast Girl

Race #6

Casanova Move – even 3rd in debut, gets lasix today & gets slight edge with second start.
Unbridled Action – firster from Stanley Hough with bullet work here, watch the board.
Belle Jour – a newbie from the Zito barn and freshman sire; Smarty Jones.
Superfecta include: Boleyn

Race #7

Al Basha – even effort off of layoff versus open company, back vs. statebreds where he’s done his best.
Banrock – two sharp statebred stake turf wins this year, the one to beat.
Mission Approved – the “lightning” speed of the race, will try to wire this group.
Superfecta include: Classic Pack

Race #8

Swept the Series – second best in allowance ranks two weeks ago, may be dangerous here.
Demaliat – just missed last time out versus slightly easier, stablemate drops from the statebred ranks & gets blinkers on.
Chit Chat Cat – Kentucky shipper first off the claim here, steadied as the favorite in last start.

Race #9

Groomedforvictory (Best Bet) – second best in 3yr.old statebred stake last time out, in against older with bullet work for this spot.
Spanky Fischbein – even effort off of layoff, may be tighter this time.
Democrat – distant 3rd last time out in 25k open company, back in statebred condition.
Superfecta include: Gansevoort

Race #10

Discreet Treasure – half brother to one of my favorites; Discreet Cat, romped by over 12 lengths in off-the-turf debut as the favorite, could be any kind.
Dr. Pleasure – a lot was thought of this colt out of a Kentucky Derby winner and Distaff champion, but has never lived up to the hype, one lifetime victory was here.
Encanto (Longshot) – interesting Delaware shipper from the Michael Matz barn, could be a price here.
Superfecta include: Screen to Screen

Race #11

It’s Not for Love – blazed the way in last three only to be second best each time, maybe today?
Sandstorm Cat – runner up also in last two on grass, could set a good trip.
Fine Line – well bred runner rallied for place first time weeds in last, may upset them all.
Granny Smith – first time starter from sharp turf trainer.

The “WmH Double Feature” 2-3 double play

Discreet Treasure (10th) with Fine Line (11th)
