Saratoga - day #25 (8/20) selections

(64-230) $423.60

Race #1

Flibberjibit – oddly named runner hails from the “white hot” Michael Maker barn, showed speed in last two off the claim, bullet work in the mud here.
Normalize – came off year layoff to break maiden in last start, statebred finds logical spot for next start.
Wild Logic / My Luckey Penney – prefer first runner going turf to dirt, stablemate even 3rd at the level last time out.

Race #2

Umbra – gets the slightest edge here in this tough 2yr.old turf event, Dominguez aboard this Pletcher firster.
Herr Mozart – a Zayat baby running for the “ice cold” Bill Mott barn, not the strongest of turf breeding.
Relatively Ready – hails from a trainer who knows how to get them ready for the turf, got the breeding there.
Superfecta include: Memorized

Race #3

Pretty Carina – much the best breaking maiden over the track, bullet work for this race.
Awesome I Am – set the pace in overnight route stake at Monmouth in last, cuts back in distance today.
Spring Elusion – had clear lead and faltered late going a route here last time out, square price here.
Superfecta include: Overandabeauty

Race #4

Ardnavagh (Best Bet) – another odd name runner just missed at this level last time out downstate, “on paper” looks the best of theses.
Bet the Diva – first time grass for runner that was pretty good as a 2yr.old, but has not had that form this year.
On Lake – rounds out very ordinary bunch, comes off spring layoff for new trainer.
Superfecta include: John’s Jean

Race #5

Consequence – a very well bred Phipps runner trying the grass for debut, dam was a grade I winner & sire top turf runner.
Warm Springs Girl – may come out running for initial start, comes from good turf family.
Closing Speed – barn batting 33% for the meet with limited starters, bred for the weeds.
Superfecta include: Such Flash

Race #6

Real Quality – much the best at this level two starts back, may be the runner to get barn off of skid.
Encinas – had the perfect trip victory last time out at this level, why not the class rise though?
Provincetown – looks like the lone speed in this race & will try and steal it, 4 for 8 in the money here at the Spa.
Superfecta include: Certain Circles (Longshot)

Race #7

Tomlinson Hill – held third last time out here at this level.
Fenaghville – turf to dirt, drops a bit & takes blinkers off; square price here.
Metulla – best of the rest in this very weak group.

Race #8

Zada Belle – even 2nd last time out in grade II stake here, handles this group.
Dorm Fever – hasn’t been seen since last Fall at Belmont, barn knows how to get them ready off of a layoff.
Be Golden – sharp in last two versus lesser, ships in from Kentucky circuit.
Superfecta include: Bully Bones

Race #9

Almighty Silver – good 2nd behind probable favorite for this race, taken to turn the tables today & upset.
Tin Cup Chalice – tries to sweep the “Big Apple” triple crown for N.Y. breds today, a tough thing to do (several have come up short the past few years).
Icabad Crane – last seen racing in the Belmont Stakes where he was beaten badly, let’s see what effect that effort has had on him.

Race #10

Absoulute Heaven – caught at the wire last time out at Belmont against similar company, slightest edge.
Stormy Relations – rallied for 2nd on yielding turf up here, tough contender with this group.
Western Slang – throw out last in off-the-turf event, fits good in this spot.
Junkanoo Party – no factor in last three starts versus tougher, needed class relief.

The “WmH Double Feature” 2-3 double play

Dorm Fever (8th) with Almighty Silver (9th)
