Saratoga - day #27 (8/22) selections

(71-248) $493.50

Race #1

High Brass – broke maiden cheaply on seventh try last time out, goes straight to 35k for the “Chief”, not a strong field here.
Globalization – at one time…well thought of, raced at six different tracks in nine lifetime starts, takes steep drop into claimer here.
Yankee Chief – statebred drops after poor effort on turf, best of the rest.

Race #2

Concorde’s Dance – even effort in the slop sprinting in debut, better here on the grass going two turns.
Platinum Girl / Weekend Strike (entry) – two very well bred first time starters from the Pletcher barn, may take ALL the money here.
Dream Express – rallied at Ellis Park in debut going a mile as favorite, slight experience edge here.

Race #3

Contessa (entry) – prefer Speed Storm over entrymate; Tight Storm, Speed Storm goes first time out for these connections shipping in from Calder, Tight Storm returns to dirt even turf try.
Tzipi – comes up from Belmont where last few had been solid, drops back to claimer today.
Sugarless – back to level of claim two starts ago, trainer heading for the “duck” if he isn’t careful.

Race #4

Cocktail Attire – led the way in turf debut only to yielded late, tough from the inside today.
Onoitsmymotherinlaw – did the same as above pick; but was going longer in distance, hope these two don’t duel.
Artistic Talent – back to turf making fifth attempt on this surface, another Frankel “money burner”.
Superfecta include: Gaffney’s Grits

Race #5

Captain Sword – a rare statebred claim first time debut for a tag, right back in for same number off that.
Sophie’s Splinter – rallied in short field for lesser last time out, can get a piece.
Knife and Fork – drops into maiden claimer off of layoff, bullet works for this.
Superfecta include: Mississippi Rag (Longshot)

Race #6

Dancing Fern – Tim Ritchey trainee meets statebreds for the first time after racing at Delaware Park & Oaklawn Park, new face of the group.
Critical Cathy – wired a group easily at 9-2 last time out, tough if let loose.
Blue Devil Bel – this Clement closer may have things set up for her well with late kick.
Superfecta include: Smokin Sarah & Western Sweep

Race #7

Mogul Man (Best Bet) – bet down as the “good thing” last start & caught at the wire, blinkers on today.
Fitness – made “middle move” and then weakened late, right in the mix here.
Academy Royale – throw out last start in the slop, doesn’t win must; but may pay big prices underneath in the exotics.
Superfecta include: Cinder Cone

Race #8

Caprice – rallied in stateside debut only to get blocked in the process, will LOVE the extra distance in this race.
Duchess Royale – hasn’t been seen since the grade III – Orchid Handicap at Gulfstream Park, factor here if ready.
Viva La Flag – failed as odds-on favorite at Belmont in last start, will be rallying late.
Superfecta include: Palm Princess

Race #9

Unbridled Belle – proven at the distance where the odds-on favorite isn’t, needs to fire her best shot here.
Ginger Punch – classy as they get….game victory last time out & the one to beat again.
Indescribable – rough trip in the Go For Wand Stakes last time out, should have no problem with the distance.

Race #10

C Street – not to be confused with “E-Street” ….game in both turf tries and should relish the added distance.
Good Request – broke maiden at this distance last time out in eighth try, runner-up five times & looks good there today.
Constabulary – goes from dirt to turf after good effort last time out at
12-1, must use in exotics.
So it Goes – no early speed, rallied after stumbling at the start in last.

The “WmH Double Feature” 2-3 double play

Western Sweep (6th) with Mogul Man (7th)
