Saratoga - day #19 (8/13) selections

(47-172) $295.20

Race #1

C.T. Phone Home – this statebred broke maiden wire in the slop two races back, may try the weeds today.
Last Boat Home – weakened versus cheaper last time out in the slop, showed speed in only turf try.
Maggie’s Miracle / Demaliat – prefer the latter wheeling back quickly from this past Sunday, Maggie drops into optional claimer.

Race #2

Laver – runner-up in April debut at Keeneland, comes from More Than Ready’s connections.
Celestial Diamond – West Point charge gets lasix for debut.
Capt. Candy Can – one of the well-thought-of Candy Ride offspring, may be a price here.

Race #3

Ravel – makes his return to the races off of eight month layoff, well-thought-of runner may be prepping for the Woodward Stakes.
Temporary Saint – gets class relief today after some nice efforts this spring, may lead the way.
Extreme Supreme – comes off short layoff , two wins in three starts here.

Race #4

Jehan – gets the call here because race most likely will come off the turf, failed as favorite in first two starts.
Pletcher (entry) – both Platinum Girl & River Fancy are well bred runners, they race on dirt too!
Ain’t Love Grand – even effort in dirt debut.

Race #5

Contessa (entry) – Truly Devine & Girl Band are the selections in this wide open maiden claimer for the babies.
Gossip Gil – drops into claimer, even effort two back.
Who Plays Brahms – firster from the “Chief”.

Race #6

Casey’s Joy – faced better last time out and one of the few here the can either turf or dirt.
Real Quality – if this can stay on the weeds…he’s the one to beat, much the best two back at this level.
Bill Place – claimed in last, steps up a bit as MTO but will fit well here.
Superfecta include: Certain Circles & King Rush

Race #7

Sneakin Up – just missed in last start here, getting closer.
Speed Dating – another West Point runner, 29% winning jockey/trainer combo.
Gem for Hook – Kimmel firster, watch the board.
Superfecta include: Alexandra’s Halo (for Dr. Paul & the twins!)

Race #8

Premium Wine (Best Bet) – drops from graded stake races to this much softer spot, tough at this level.
Starforaday – won at monster price here last summer for different trainer, in tough last time out.
Out of Gwedda (entry) – sneaky good effort over the track in last start, entrymate Like Now could be also dangerous.

Race #9

Garden District – won a grade III stake last time out at Churchill, before that a good 2nd against the boys.
Bold Union – won first two starts by over 20 lengths, could be any kind.
Mani Bhavan – easy debut at Delaware, gets tested today.
Superfecta include: Doremifasollatido

Race #10

Castle Harbour – looks like he can handle either surface, Finger Lakes connections.
Cops Fever – second best again in off-the-turf route race on a sloppy track, beginning to look like a pattern.
El Tamberito – comes in as MTO, last two were even efforts, but can’t take at a short price.
Mail Heroics (Longshot) – “bomber” connections, last wasn’t that back on the turf, blinkers on for aptly named horse for me.

The “WmH Double Feature” 2-3 double play

Callmetony (8th) with Doremifasollatido (9th)
