Saratoga - day #22 (8/16) selections

(53-200) $337.80

Race #1

National Pride – lost all chance in return off layoff by stumbling at the start, one more chance today.
Icetate – also had rough beginning in the slop; but held third in optional non-winners claimer, should be right there.
Pewter – drops from Canadian stakes company to this spot, will set the pace off of last three starts.
Superfecta include: Bordeaux Bandit

Race #2

Light Green (Best Bet) – just missed in debut downstate, odd-on for this start today.
Abundantia – IEAH runner has so-so works for todays debut & trainer yet to have a winner first time out.
Northern Harbor – wide trip beaten badly versus Miss Ocean City opening weekend, improved effort in second start?

Race #3

Fanfire – chased the pace last time out in off-the-turf race, back on grass vs. usual suspects.
Love for a Price – rallied in maiden claimer last time out, gets blinkers on, lightly raced the key against this group.
Sweet Slam – 2nd best as lukewarm favorite in last, has improved on grass though.
Superfecta include:Gift of Giving

Race #4

Sweet Bama Breeze – missed by a neck last time out in off-the-turf race, gets blinkers on today & may lead the way.
Mrs. Holden – sharp try two back in turf debut, throw out last race on main track.
Fiona Freud – starts for the 19th time today, a “money burner” in last two…she won’t be on top of ANY my tickets today!
MTO picks: Sweet Bama Breeze / Afleet Aya / Punt’s Kitty

Race #5

Girolamo – well bred first time starter is a half to Phipps runner; Daydreaming, bred to be a good one.
Romp – not to be confused with the older horse, foreign bred….makes debut today for Neil Howard, may need a race or two.
Thomas the Great – reigns in the woods of Mill Lane, watch the board with this Zito firster.
Superfecta include: Take the Points

Race #6

Let’s Go Yankees – won maiden claimer downstate and goes to logical spot, sure to be over bet because of name.
Spider Rock – second time out for new connections and drops to easier spot, blinkers on today.
Arrrr – broke maiden last time out here, runner-up in that race came back to win on Wednesday.

Race #7

Hard to Explain – rallied fast going slightly shorter at Delaware last time out, fits well for Jersey based trainer.
Monsooned Malabar – first time Contessa after even efforts at Colonial in last two, may like the stretch out.
Quick to Charm – Pletcher runner broke maiden two back at 16-1, gets Johnny V. aboard today.
Superfecta include: Come On Over

Race #8

Dancing Forever – has been running like a champ this year in these turf marathon races, he’ll be a square price again today.
Grand Couturier – upset winner of this race last year, didn’t show much last time out though in the Man O’ War versus Red Rocks & Curlin.
Red Rocks – winner over Curlin last time out with perfect trip, very rarely puts to wins together though.
Superfecta include: Better Talk Now

Race #9

Music Note – if she goes here…will be very tough, but I would wait next week for bigger and better things against the boys.
Proud Spell – consistent as they come, concerned with the distance though for her.
Mushka (Longshot) – return to the races wasn’t that impressive, if she could only run back to her Demoiselle victory last Fall.

Race #10

Forest Trail – rallied in grade III stake last time out at Monmouth, class edge versus these.
Meriweather Jessica – won a statebred turf sprint condition downstate, well spotted here.
Choosing – set the pace first time stateside since shipping over, stretches out from the far outside.
Queens Full – broke maiden here last summer, lots of chances since then to get through this condition.
